The Emmitsburg Community Chorus (ECC) operates under the musical guidance of a choral director with the support of a piano accompanist. The ECC also has a Board of Directors that is composed of choral members. The Board provides organizational support and works to maintain the long-term sustainability of the group.

Peggy Flickinger

Choral Director

Peggy Flickinger has been the choral director for the Emmitsburg Community Chorus for the past 17 years. As director, she is responsible for the overall artistic vision and musical development of the choir. She is also responsible for directing rehearsals and performances, selecting music, and planning performances.

With a degree from Shepherd College in vocal music performance, she has been active in music throughout her career. During her music career, she has served as choral and church choir director of various groups throughout Maryland. She also taught music at Visitation Academy in Frederick, MD.

She is a recipient of the Teacher of the Year award from Catholic Education and is a member of Music Teachers National Association and Frederick County Music Teachers Association.

In addition to serving as the ECC choral director, she currently teaches piano and voice at Kramer’s Piano Shop in New Midway, MD.

Lisa

Lisa Mattia

Piano Accompanist

Lisa Mattia serves as the Pianist for the Emmitsburg Community Chorus, providing support for the chorus and choral director during rehearsals and performances.

She holds a BA in music Education and a BS in Business Administration from Shepherd College and a dual Masters degree in Business and Arts Administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She has worked in various capacities in music throughout her career, including assistant musical director with the Fort Worth Ballet, the Dallas Opera, and The Dallas Symphony Association. In addition to her work with the Emmitsburg Community Chorus, she is also a freelance pianist.
